Just Motor Law solicitor Matt Reynolds was contacted by the BBC for his expert comment on the latest drink drive figures.
Research by Cheshire Police shows that 40% of those arrested on suspicion of driving while over the legal alcohol limit are aged under 30. Police are concerned that the dangers of driving while over the limit are being ignored by younger drivers.
Matt told BBC Radio Merseyside: “There was a cultural shift in Great Britain in the 1980s and 1990s where people were ashamed to drink-drive but these figures suggest the message isn’t getting through to the younger people. Twenty-four hour licensing may also be having an impact. Perhaps there is a need for a fresh, hard-hitting campaign?”
